  • Been a while since I've logged in although it is never far from my mind.

I am going to look at cutting my energy costs I have put he heating and water on timer and make sure the thermostat is down to zero anytime I am out the house, I need to get onto the comparison sites too to see if there are any cheaper options.

I didn't think my groceries were high but I am wrong it seems so I will see where I can cut back we rarely buy takeaways but our youngest is still in nappies so that adds a bit.

    Currently debts stand at:

    Very £29
    Next 67
    Tesco £850
    Marks and Sparks £1066
    Nationwide £1691
    Halifax - £2479
    Natwest £3036
    Overpayment £211

    Total 9429

I have filled in the tax claim form and am waiting to get the refund back which will clear next, very and some off the m &s too. Fingers crossed I don't have to wait much longer.

Doesn't seem to have gone down much but things will get better I know they will.:)

    And i'm off.....woohoooo :T
  • Looks like you have paid some off which is great :D

Our Groceries include nappies too (1yr old in size 4 and 3 yr old in pull ups) so think its possible, just depends what you like to eat/drink.

I find that if I shop at aldi I struggle to spend £40 a week to feed the family (including nappies and alcohol!). Majority of food is cheaper (but not all!) and we dont notice the difference in quality in most.

They have everything we NEED but not some of the nicer things in life which to be honest are treats. Also finding ourselves losing weight too.

Ive actually reduced my grocery budget from £200 to £175 (though might be pushing it!)

For the Energy bills, Im really harsh on our usage. I dont use the timer for heating/hot water, they are always off. If cold then we hit the button for it to come on for a hour with the aim of 2hrs a day max (Morning and mid afternoon, cooking heats the house up a bit in the evening). Im always warm anyway (grew up in a cold house maybe?) but the wife hates it, all she does is put a hoody on and shes fine.

Again its down to personal preference, I force this on the wife a bit and I know that people think im crazy! but then again £43 a month is a lot cheaper than anyone i know.
