Need a replacement mobile phone battery

OK so I know I can probably type this into Google, Ebay or even Gumtree and get up a load of results. But I am looking for a real persons experience and what to steer clear of if you've found somewhere selling rubbish.

My mobile is the Samsung S3, it's a year old and the battery I have now wont last a day with the minimal email/text searching and occasional 10 mins of radio use after an overnight's charge. It used to last a day...I can't afford a brand new phone so just want to replace the battery.

Steer clear of non genuine...unless you don't mind a potential explosion in your bag or pocket.

It's probably not the battery though. Resetting the phone to it's original state (after backing as much as you can up) and removing the old apps made mine as new with almost 2 days battery life again without replacing the battery.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Yes....this is why I have chosen to post the question here ;)

Thanks for the tip on resetting, will try this again but had already tried this a few times. Made no difference to the battery.

You mean if you could afford a new phone you'd buy that in preference to just getting a new (and miles cheaper) battery...?

Most S3 phones have a 24 month warranty (battery only 6 months, though), so if a new battery doesn't resolve the issue, you should be able to get a repair/exchange under warranty.

Plenty of genuine ones for sale on ebay for well under the RRP of £19.99.

    1. How do you know the ones on ebay are genuine? I've had bad experiences with Chinese purchases before and even with UK sellers whom I think have sourced their supplies from outside the UK...

    2. I had enough today with the battery (lasted all of 3 hours!) and called Samsung who informed me of the 24 month warrenty which I hadn't realised applied to my phone. :) They are going to help me fix the problems as on speaking to the customer service rep there seem to be quite a few issues with speed (it takes about 10 seconds to open any app and quite often now it just freezes and shuts down- I just thought this was a battery issue but the customer service rep didn't seem to think so).

I am really pleased with this- in answer to your assumption I'm just out for a new phone if I could afford it; nope, I just want a working one which does what I need it to do. The S3 up until now wasn't doing that as many apps were not useable (again I just thought this was because I had an "old" handset by a technophiles point of view).
It appears the phone should have been doing what I needed it to all along but has not been because it could be faulty- I had thought this slow-mode was how all Samsung S3's worked!

This ^^ They do a high capacity battery which is well worth the investment.

Fantastic! Have earmarked a battery, going to visit a Samsung store when I get time this weekend as I was advised to have the phone checked by the instore team when I spoke to the technical support engineer earlier today. If they can't fix what I think is a fault (eg if it's not a fault) I'll order a replacement battery and live with the slow speed/lag but at least have a battery which lasts longer than 3 hours!
