Tipping, especially at Christmas

Anyone noticed that a few years ago if you had a tradesman do a job for you at a quoted price, they quite often handed you back a tenner as a "lucks penny" . Nowadays though after the job is finished they expect a tip on top of the agreed price. I'm not mean but I hate tipping in any form. In fact personally I would feel like a beggar if someone tipped me. I think its shameful
