Grrr! How is this a "win"?

When I rule the world (I live in hope) I will ban competition running people from classifying a discount as a win.
Had an email saying I've won the Esprit advent comp - when I opened it, I had "won" 10% off, which is less than some sites are giving as consolation prizes!
Considering the main prize is a holiday to the Maldives, to say I was deflated was an understatement! But onwards and upwards!

that is shocking 50% or something£32 worth of prizes in 2015 so far0

OMG that is truly shocking indeed I mean heaven forbid that you have won a prize for a free entry competition and won something in return for very little effort.
To slate a prize of any size being offered means that you failed to read the actual ones they offered, Perhaps give comping a miss seeing as you seem so ungrateful.0 -

yes but 10% Off is just a sales gimmick and not even a funny one really£32 worth of prizes in 2015 so far0 -
So they work on the basis of treating their loyal customers and attracting more.
If I was on the site looking to purchase and stumbled upon the game, 10% off would be a lovely surprise. Better than nothing!
They're not really looking for compers who have no intention or interest in shopping from them. Naturally for you thats a disappointment, however unfortunately the company are running the completion to promote their products so if you don't like the way they do that don't enter the competition.
Ive have loads of emails stating 'Have you won?', 'you have won' that turned out to be very little but It got me reading the email rather than a simple delete so I can understand the concept!0 -
Blimey, Stevie, I was only joking! I just think it's not really a win if it costs you money is all. You're right, it is in the Ts &Cs.
Apologies, I won't make any wry references to sales gimmicks masquerading as prizes again.

Yes but then would you have read the email? I would have deleted it on the basis of the subject.
Its just marketing, a quick disappointed sigh and move onto the next comp
