Where to buy coloured contact lenses?

I fancy trying out some coloured contact lenses, nothing fancy, just regular ones, such as blue or brown. They don't need to be prescription or anything like that. I'm not sure if it's best to buy dailies or longer term ones either, guess the price will decide that.

Does anyone have any recommendations of where is best to buy from?

Thanks in advance.

If you don't otherwise wear contact lenses you should get them fitted by an optician. Some do free contact lens trials which might work for these - worth asking.

  • Thanks Theoretica,

I shall look into your suggestion. I used to wear contacts on a "when I needed to" basis. My optician fitted me then and I used them for the times when wearing glasses are a bit of a problem such as sports etc or when my glasses didn't work with my outfit (depending on the colours).

So I have worn contacts in the past. But I have a new optician since my last contact order. I shall ask though and they might even be able to suggest where to buy them from if they can't help.

Whether they are prescription or not, its against the law to supply contact lenses of any description without a valid prescription.

You'd therefore be very wise to go via the Opticians.

I'd always thought you needed a prescription too, but was surprised when I emailed a scan of a new prescription to a mail-order supplier who'd previously required one & they replied saying they no longer needed a copy.

I'm now on my local optician's payment plan that includes check-ups, so I don't currently buy independently online.

Definitely recommend dailies. Cleaning lenses is expensive in itself and it is nice to have a fresh new lens every time.

I'd like to think they they now check the specification with your optician, but I'm rather cynical.

I suggest it's a company with no concern for your eye health and a company best avoided.
