NEW JOB! Wheeeeyy!

Options
I signed up for Office Angels about a month ago. The lady was always very helpful and kept putting me forward for jobs. Well. Yesterday she called and asked if I wanted to be put forward for an administrative assistant job at a company called Cunningham and Lindsay. It's an insurance claims management company. They are based in Leeds and opened up an office in Hull due to the floods. It is a 6 month contract initially, but the lady from Office Angels told me that she thought *had a hint maybe* they would have enough work to stay open for at least a year. So I went for it and later someone called me about an interview. Interview was 10am today, and I got a call this afternoon with a job offer. It's a 6 month contract initially, and like the lady said, the job will last a year. So I start Monday and this will give me the office experience holding me back from other jobs. I have the admin skills just not the office experience everywhere is looking for. I finally have a chance! Plus I will be able to pay bills and debts. Now I just have to call work in the morning and quit. My contract states I have to give a month, and I know it's horrible to not give the month. But to be honest, I really cannot afford to turn down the job. I will go from making a pathetic £2,600 a year (YES a year) to £11,500. When I got paid last, I had the biggest panic attack about not being able to afford two bills. I can't be doing that every month, and I know it'll happen. 2 measly bills and one £10 food shop is all I can afford at the moment. My poor husband has to work loads of overtime, which includes 13 hour shifts just to get extra money, 8am to 9am then back at 8am the next day. I feel terrible. I need the money. They won't wait a month, because they could easily find someone who can start Monday. So I accepted the offer. Now I just have to break the news, but I hope they do understand.

Congratulations, Chocchip! Office Angels are a really good company and look after their people well so all going well something really good will probably come along after the year.

good luck with the notice. It's not good practice not to give the proper notice and could affect references but tbh, there's not a lot an employer can do to stop you.

I'll be thinking of you on Monday - good luck!

They are very good, better than any other recruitment company I've ever been with. Usually I send my CV and hear nothing. She called once or twice a week/ever other week with jobs to put me forward for.

I understand about the notice, but I had a long think and we need the money more than I'll need them as a reference. We can't live off of the salary I'm on now.
