Acting Unlawfully.....

What would happen to you if you acted "Unlawfully"?
To me I would assume "acting unlawfully" was essentially "breaking the law" and as such should require the perpetrator to be reprimanded.....
I wonder will Mark H Durkan or the civil servants involved get dragged before the courts now for their "unlawful" behaviour ??

He probably made the decision of the "sound" understanding that the people of west Belfast would automatically be pleased with the construction of a GAA ground. To have been faced with and subsequently lost a legal challenge from local residents must have been a shock.

I'm sure they are... minus the few who would potentially have a f3cking great big high grey concrete wall hanging over their back garden blocking out all the sunlight... but sure why would you want to worry about them???? The GAA need the capacity for the 1 or 2 games a year where they could "potentially" fill it and of course for all the music concerts they'll try to hold as well....

Now you mention it, why is there never any stadium rock here? Croke and Aviva get bands every year. What's wrong with ravenhill, Windsor or sea view?

As I understand it, "acting illegally" would be to break criminal law, whilst "acting unlawfully" would be to expose yourself to the risk of prosecution under civil law.

    I do hope you're joking! :)

    No. Great fun.

Even the GAA field in Thurles used to hold a music festival back when I was 19. Yes - the sun, the music, the girls. The food, the toilets.

Garth Brooks ring any bells !!! I think the GAA used up all their good faith with the residents with that fiasco!!
Problem with these stadiums is they are in built up Residential areas.... Fine for the likes of Tennants Vital on Boucher as it's not hugely residential compared to the likes of Ravenhill, West Belfast or Croke Park..

The quick answer to this is "no" simply because I have absolutely no faith that people in power ever actually do anything about other people in power breaking the rules.
  • Seems Mr H Durkan has form !!
taking Decisions without the agreement of the full executive.
Now another court action...... Maybe him or his party should be paying for all these cases considering it's him signing them off !!

Poor Garth didn't even get to ring out a few chords. These stadia have been there a lot longer than the residents. It's not as if they didn't know what to expect since there are big games every other weekend.

If I'd been living round there and garth had been in town, I'd have taken the opportunity to rent out a parking space, bought a couple of thousand tacky cowboy hats at, what, a euro each and sold them to fans from my front door for around a tenner, oh go on, all right, give me eight. Yee ha.

As mse forum readers, I'm sure most of us would have thought of this.
