Hi
We are currently on a variable rate with HSBC. We would like to move our mortgage to a more competitive fixed rate. The problem is, is that when we took our mortgage out 7.5 years ago, it was in both names and joint mortgage. The house deeds have both our names on. Fast forward to present day, we have two children and I was made redundant last year and now decided to stay at home. My husbands wages are very good and we have been paying our bills with ease.
So, we want to re-mortgage to potentially a new lender, will we have to have a joint mortgage or can we just have a mortgage in my husbands name?

You'll be party to the mortgage application as you'll be named as a financial dependent.0 -
could I not just come off the mortgage? or doesn't it work like that?
We had our house on the market earlier this year as wanted to buy a new build. When we discussed the mortgage as needed a bigger mortgage, the mortgage adviser said to have the mortgage in my husbands name only. That way we were able to borrow the amount we needed. The new build fell through as we couldn't sell our house in time but got accepted for the mortgage.0
