New mortgage application with cc debt

I'm looking for some mortgage application advice as I'm a first time buyer and a bit clueless.

We currently live in a flat owned by my husband with about 50k left on the mortgage (it's worth about 3 times this so would have a good deposit).

We want to sell the flat and buy a house together, we've kept separate finances up till now. My husband has about 6k in credit card debt from a period of unemployment which is being paid off but slowly.

I'm wondering how this would affect our application? If he got a low interest loan to pay off the cards would this be worse than the cc? He will also see if he could get a 0% cc to transfer the balance to, he did a noodle credit check and his score was 3.5 out of 5 so I think it's a possibility. Or Would it be possible to use some of the equity when we sell to pay it off? (Is that a stupid question?) I don't have any debt and earn twice as much so I think my score would be good and we could comfortably to afford to pay the new mortgage while clearing the cc debt. Obviously I know it would be better to pay off the debt first (I do have savings) but I would like to look at all of our options. Thank you.

Why don't you help your husband to address his debts?

This is an option, I'm just wary of wiping out a big chunk of my savings and would prefer to sort out the house first but if that's the best thing in the long term I'm fine with it. I just want to know all the options before making a decision.

The more I think about it this probably the best option, writing it down is helping to make it clearer.
