Morrisons match and more price checking

Hi,
I was shopping in Morrisons yesterday and overheard the lady in front of me asking the lady on the till why she hadn't got match and more points for dog food. She'd checked the price with Asda before going shopping, knew Asda charged £5 less per box and had bought 4 boxes, so she thought she should have £20 match and more points. The lady on the till explained that they checked the whole bill, so the total for the items bought was compared with total for items bought across other shops and points only awarded if there was a difference.
I understand what she was saying, but can't work this out in my head. Can anyone give me some examples of why she didn't get any points, don't want to fall into same trap myself.

it goes on the whole bill so if some of the other items she bought were more expensive in asda then that would have absorbed what she saved on the dog food IYSWIM. So it's best to buy the items you're confident about seperately in order to make sure you get your deal0

Is it just me who doesn't trust Morrisons price matching ? Having shopped all year at Aldi until the Morrisons Xmas offer started recently I know Aldi prices. I did a shop yesterday of £117 in Morrisons and got just 73p worth of points.......if I'd have gone to Aldi that same shop of equivalent items would have been around £85-90.
Has anyone actually audited these so called price matches Morrisons are doing ?
After Xmas I'm off back to Aldi for definite.
Very interested to hear others' views on this ?0 -
I bought one item, brie, and it wasn't price matched... Morrisons no doubt would have argued it wasn't made by the same company - so I am sticking with Aldi's for food shopping, and just using the M&M card for petrol points.0

I have bought a few things in Morrison's since getting the card but don't seem to have earned a penny. Think I will stick with asda price guarantee.0

You have to spend £15 before they'll price match.
So, back to my original question. Every time you see an offer and put it in your basket, (ie 4 x boost bars for £1 instead of £1.79) you're probably doing yourself out of match and more points! So you're right, carriebradshaw, you need to split your shopping if you know things are cheaper elsewhere.I love a bargain. Now mortgage and debt free. hurray!!:smileyhea0 -

I just knew there would be a catch somewhere, think I will stick with Lidl & AsdaEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I think all these price matching things are confusing, and I really can't be bothered with them; if I get points, or a money off docket, great; if not, well I shan't go home and cry.:D
I generally start in @ldi, and then for what I can't get there, I either visit T3sco or get Mr LW to pop into Morries in his lunch break. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
