Do they have the deeds? If the property was registered with the Land Registry, there may not be any paper deeds to get.0

Two possibilities
(1) You don't. Sometimes when a property is registered at the land registry the original deeds are not retained by the lender since the official evidence is then the LR database.
(2) When you ask for them. If the lender does still have them then they may be in a dusty storeroom at head quarters and they may not bother if you do not ask since it takes effort to find them. A variation on this may mean that they only send them when it is convenient to access them.
Of course if the property is old and was never registered (increasingly rare these days) then it is important you ask for them so that you can get the property registered when you need to do so..Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

Get it registered if it isn't already, then you don't have to worry about keeping it safe.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

I got my paper deeds sent to me even though they are now on LR database.
I was paying for the closing the mortgage account, the cost was in this price, so why not.
Plus if I had the paper deeds in my hands, plus the letter saying that the charge had been removed and noted on LR Then I knew it was definitely mine and they could not find a 'debt' to sting me with. The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!0
