She has raised with her line manager, changes were promised which haven't happened. Must admit my first thoughts were along the grievance route but I am not sure she is robust enough to go through this and my priority is to get her to a place where she is better able to cope. She has no mortgage, no children and savings so says that she is happy to take a pension hit but I don't think she has understood what this could mean.

I don't know about benefits, though this is something I have raised with her as her OH has serious mobility problems and now has lost the use of one of his arms.

TBH it is a pretty grotty situation all round, I'm trying to help and understanding the NHS is the least of it!

Thanks for all the comments and advice

From what you have said, she has a legit grievance and this should be addressed before any retirement. If she cannot deal, get her union involved or an employment specialized solicitor. Or POA to act on her behalf.

Which will help with the benefits as well. If she cannot deal, you help her and take her to the CAB, age concern etc.

I agree, she doesn't fully understand what she is giving up by not exploring her grievance. 25% of her indexed, increasing income for life for a start.
