High Street Robbery
If you have ever purchased on the High Street and been offered free credit for 6 months or whatever, BEWARE!
I purchased recently from Currys and decided to take the 6 months free credit and earn some £10 interest by investing elsewhere. I asked the adviser if there were any different rules from my last one, taken out 18 months before, and was told "no!".
When I received the letter, and checked my small print, I was horrified to find there was a "admin fee" (penalty) for early payment of £25. When I complained to Currys they said they did not know about it, so I contacted HFC Bank and they told me it was CURRYS charge!
Can you imagine a Bank charging £25 for you keeping your account in credit?
Neither can I!

I have had a similar experience with Land of Leather, bought 2 sofas with 12 months interest free credit, took 4 months to arrive, so really only got 8 months interest free. I then paid the balance off before interest would be added & was charged a £29 admin fee & to top things off £1 fee for paying by debit card! this would have been £3 by credit card. I would rather pay this though than the extortionate credit charges & knowing I had to get the money to pay for them before the credit charges were added made me pull my finger out & save.Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner
