I saw the news tonight - after the bit about the ferry off Corfu which is dreadful and then in stark contrast they had another article about too much snow in the ski resorts in France .
One woman was complaining bitterly about being kept at the airport for 9 hours and then being told that they were getting overnight accommodation. She shuddered in horror and showed the camera where they had taken them - a make shift overnight shelter in a school hall or such like
Obviously she was expecting her usual 5 star hotel :rotfl:
Just had a look on the website so I could figure out where Chambery was in relation to Paris - google maps say nearly 4 hours so I don't know why the news kept saying Paris. Or is that what people living in Paris do after Christmas - drive for at least 4 hours to go skiing?
So there are no flights from Paris into Chambery - is that right?
It says passengers who were due to fly back to Edinburgh from Chambery, must be maybe 3 hour flight at most, are now being bussed to Grenoble - I looked that up and its over 5 hours from Chambery, probably a lot more if the weather is bad, far better to leave them where they are overnight - or is that too obvious? other uk bound airports were departing just a few hours late.

Someone I know has been stuck there overnight, they got bussed out this afternoon to a different airport and are flying back to the U.K. to a different airport than planned, then a four hour drive home. There were no flights at all to their original home airport
Edit - and the 'poor' woman having to stay in a sports hall of all places , perhaps she'd have preferred to be stuck in a coach or car in the freezing cold for 12 hours like some other folk:rotfl: ( not that I think that's funny it must have been terrible )

I didn't get the whole kipling bag thing either - until I needed something reasonably tough to take on holiday and I was persuaded to try one. I got this http://www.kipling.com/uk-en/handbags/type/across-body-bags/alvar-k1333575700-999.html but in a sort of stone colour. I paid something like £24 in one of the Amazon sales and it's turned out to be a brilliant bargain. And it isn't the end of the world if the cat chews the strap
My good Mulberry bag has barely seen the light of day since we got her, as she was a bit too interested in it. (I should add that I didn't spend actual money on a Mulberry bag, I got it with some vouchers I won a couple of years ago)

Not that many hampers are half price but he will be very happy with a cheese goody tin.
