I don't think we need be too worried about being refused entry at the Tasting Evenings - I've just checked several stores that are in my county and they all have spaced available for all slots toninght and tomorrow. If they turn the Elite lot away then they won't have more than a handful of people there - they should welcome us all with open arms and superb goody bags !

By not cancelling with the company concerned you leave yourself wide open to the possibility of them attempting and sometimes successfully collecting payment regardless of having cancelled with the bank. The company are quite within their rights to attempt collection of funds.
Obviously the bank will have to refund if you've cancelled with them, but why put yourself in the position of having to go to the trouble of sorting a problem of your own making?

This is why DD mandates and the DD guarantee state the following phrase.

You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify the organisation.
