I had great delight earlier this year informing Capital One my debt with them was statute barred(my final debt). Imagine my considerable surprise to be receive a letter from them yesterday stating that I had been 'pre-selected' to apply for a Capital One Classic card. I'm pleased I wasn't tempted and binned it, but it beggars belief that I would have most likely got another card from them.

'Pre-selected to apply' is not the same as 'pre-approved for a card'.0

no, but in my past experience, I have always received a card if I have been 'pre-selected'.0

Not as unusual as you might think, LS. Clearly your dealings with them are so far in the past that you are effectively a brand new potential customer in their eyes!

Apply and run up thousands.
That's a joke by the way..0 -
Liked the above - Made me chuckle

It's nothing new OP - I've had in the region of 50 letters this year from those sub prime b******s saying my application is pre approved..... Ask yourself, what the hell does that even mean?? Just irresponsible lending and entierly immoral marketing strategies. I received letters of "free bets online" from an online casino the other day! Oh well, keeps the fire going....

When I think about the stress of the last few years, I know my credit card days are definitely over.0
