What small DFW stuff will you do today Tuesday 9 December 2014

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Hi both
I'm going to jump in on this thread so hopefully the right one!
It's lovely and frosty here today. I am going to walk into Lewisham to pay a cheque in for D'S. That will take me around 45 mins so should be lovely exercise in this climate. I'm going to pop into Aldi on my way back as I have some shopping to do today. Hoping to stick to my daily spend level to help my GC efforts.
Back soon with more news..

Morning all
Yesterday I found the Coupon Queen! Watched a few of her vlogs and found some interesting tips which I didn't know about so thought I'd share. I'd heard of Top Cash Back which I use for online shopping, but for grocery shopping there's apps like shopitize, checkoutsmart and clicksmart where you find the cashback for things you've purchased and take a photo of your receipt! Seems very easy! As I do most my shopping at lidl which doesn't seem to be on there I'm not sure how much I'll be able to use it but I'll keep an eye on there if I do pop to other shops!
Yesterday's shop was a bit of a disaster! Firstly my apple juice leaked all over the till - people behind didn't look very impressed having to wait whilst the mess was mopped up! Stuck to my list however the instant I got home I remembered about 5 things I'd forgotten to actually put on the list! Never mind, I'm sure we can do without them until I go again at the weekend.
Today I have/will:-
* Share MSE tip with the lovely folks on here
* Check banks
* Lunch from home
* Fill water bottle up at work
* Collect xmas decs which will fingers crossed be ready today!
* Decorate xmas tree
* Collect parcels from parents house
* Dinner from cupboards
* Tidy, dust and hoover bedroom
Think that's everything for today!
Definitely recommend having a looksie at Coupon Queen if you haven't already!

Hi All
I've followed this thread daily for a while now, so thought i'd join in, i hope that's ok
Yesterday was a massive spend day as I done my xmas shopping, however I picked the right day as M and S had 50% off kids toys (which was what I needed) plus I get 20% off as my mum works thereSo overall I saved £40 off of my already very modest xmas present budget.
Anyhoo, for today-
- Tidy my very messy bedroom (I work away often, recently returned after 2 weeks away and still haven't unpacked).
- Do washing
- I MUST submit my expenses for work! Tomorrow is the deadline so need to be in the post today, otherwise I will not get the cash back until February, at around £700 this is not preferred!
- B and L from stores
- I am going to a friends for dinner tonight so no spend here
Hoping for a NSD
Have a good day everyone0 -
Ooh two threads this morning! Hopefully they will be merged so that the posts on the other one don't get lost. I have read the other one, but as most posts are on this one, I have decided to join here
So far today I have:
Been to have a haircut, not particularly MS but needed doing. I walked instead of taking the car, which saved fuel, and also saved me the bother of defrosting the car as it is outside - OH has filled the garage up with stuff again :mad: It was bloomin' cold, too :eek:
Bought a few bits while out - a loaf of bread from the market, as I didn't have a great night again, and cba to make anyand a hairdye for when I can be bothered to do it. They were on offer in Superdrug, two for £6 where they are normally £3.75 each. I pondered this, as it seems a good saving, but am trying to resist marketing which encourages us continually to buy more than we need. Not sure about others, but I would normally buy two and put one in a cupboard and then forget it is there. Then buy another one (or two) when I felt like doing it again. Is this how we end up with toiletry stashes ladies? Anyway, I bought just one, and spent £3.75 instead of £6
I don't colour my hair that often, and might fancy a different shade next time in any case. I also bought a roll of non- Xmas wrapping paper from the pound shop. That is all I need today
Still to do:
Put wash that has just finished on airer, as the sun seems reluctant to come out today
Check banks
Think about what to do for dinner - we still aren't 100% after our bugs, so not that bothered to be honest
Send email to the local food bank as OH and I have decided to donate to them rather than give each other presents for Christmas. Neither of us needs anything, and we are lucky enough to have a warm house and plenty to eat
Wrap grand-daughter's birthday present and get it ready for posting. This one appeared early 12 years ago next week, just in time for Christmas
Find decorations out of loft
Get Xmas cards ready to take with me to write when I go babysitting tomorrow, just on the offchance baby GD goes to sleep :rotfl:
Find another jumper to put on as the heating has gone off - I have finally succumbed and put it on downstairs :eek:
Hope everyone has a good day
:wave: And hello imamoneysaver, we love having new people on here0 -
Hi All
Twiggy - Im excited about those apps. Have just downloaded 2 of them!
Im rushing as I have to go out in 2 seconds, but here goes:
1. Found 7p today
2. Have done my first ever Aldi small shop. Amazed at the difference. If you are interested I just posted my findings on the December GC thread.
3. I have just intitiated a balance transfer on my credit card. Which isnt 0% but very low for a long time so will save money.
4. Ate up two kinds of leftovers for lunch. It was err edible but not going to thrill Gordon Ramsey
5. Paid in a cheque for son.
6. Checked all my banking. Deleted an old DD to stop the money grabbers taking anything else.
7. Moaned again at supernet who we paid to join in October, because BT dont offer us unlimited broadband. Anyway, they took our phone line a week ago but our broadband is still with BT and we havent had our new router yet. Im mad because we are paying £6.99 for netfix and I darent use it on our BT connection as they just charge us, so we havent used it in 2 months now. So thats a waste of money. Sometimes changing brands etc to save money isnt easy.
8. Will be helping son to make a few more xmas cards for his class mates when we get in tonight.
9.Sent a reminder to someone who owes me money....
10. Have so far saved myself £2.90 in bus fees, plus another £1.45 saving coming up. Thats a quick £4.35 & keeps me relatively fit too.
See you later.
