FTB verbal offer accepted

Options
Hi;

My friend has put an offer in on a house in Scotland that has been verbally accepted. She is off to a solicitor to put the offer in writing tomorrow. She is then going home to England. She was given a DIP from a mortgage broker she spoke to on the phone; but has since decided it is not convenient to use the broker as she is not close to home. My friend is also in the forces which makes it difficult as she is on leave at the moment. But due to go away next week.

Can a mortgage broker in England arrange a mortgage for a Scottish property? Also she has a week to get a mortgage application completed; and as a first time buyer is worried about which mortgage company would be most likely to accept her.

  • Yes, a broker in England can deal with a Scottish purchase

    When you say mortgage application, do you mean another DIP or a full mortgage offer? The latter is rather ambitious in a week.
    Slummy mummy!
  • Is she using Forces Help To Buy towards the deposit?

    To be honest it shouldn't really matter where the broker is -I've just had two completed for guys in Falklands and Canada- but be aware not all lenders accept FHTB.

    Broker does not need to be local to her or property. I have never met most of the brokers I've dealt with...
    I would probably go with a Scottish one as the system there is a little different...
    Make sure the offer goes in Subject to Survey and mortgage approval ...
