Signing documents at solicitors

We have an appointment tomorrow to go in to our solicitors so they can do their last checks and we can sign our contracts. Yay!:j
I am surprised at how nervous and excited I am feeling though!

I have a few questions:

What happens and how long will it take? I am Imagining another mortgage interview style grilling here!

We are married and it is a joint mortgage though the deposit funds are in an account with my name on it only. Is this likely to be a problem? We have a joint account which we use for bills so thought it be easier to keep separate and didnt want a large bank transfer in there just before. Guess they can check source of funds and we can transfer to joint if they prefer.

We had a PPI refund and this in our savings. We asked the broker ages ago and he said was fine but now worried ( normal, right?!). We can of course provide paper trail and will take it in.

Thanks so much

  • They will inform the mortgage company that the deposit is coming from a single applicant.

This may cause some extra questions and requirements from your lender....

Lender will want and need to know. It's shouldn't be a big issue.

It's not a grilling. The solicitor is working for you and will run through all the paperwork explaining it and making sure you understand what you are signing as well as sorting the payment with you and may need to see ID.

When I went to do mine last week it was under an hour.
