Mortgage application with Leeds Building Society timeframe

Hello hopefully someone can help on this. My and my partner are hoping to get a mortgage on a property that we have had an offer accepted on. We initially went to barclays as we both bank with them and went through a mortgage application in branch, we got accepted for a mortgage in principal but there was a error code on our application, apparent,y this was due to the fact there was a notice of correction on there from a default in 2009 on my file. Anyway cut a long story short, the mortgage adviser co tacted the underwriting team and they told him that because there was payday lending activity on my credit file over 4 years ago, they would decline it once it got to them even though we had passed the credit scoring initially.
I have now submitted an application with Leeds building society, has anyone else had dealings with them, how quickly is their turnaround time and are they more lenient then other high street lenders, I have looked at their lending criteria and seem to fit in with it.

Just gone through the process with them via a broker. They have a very pedantic and frustrating underwriting process so patience needed but after that it flew! Very quick to instruct valuation and offer put within a couple of days. Their telephone service is exceptional! Good luck :0)0

Every case is different, so what happened for one person won't necessarily happen for another.
