Paying the debt off while still treating the kids!

I have decided I need to keep a diary on here, firstly to try and keep track of my spending and secondly as somewhere to rant when things get bad!

Bit of background, I have four lovely kids aged from 12 to 4 and am on my own with them since splitting with their dad. I have moved to a new area where I don't really have any friends and as I work three days a week, it is hard to meet other mums.

I am still on good terms with the ex husband, well as much as can be expected when you split up, but from most of my closest friends are also his friends, I don't really want to put them in the position where they either have to choose or make them feel awkward if I start moaning about him. Another reason for the diary!

I have quite a bit of debt that was built up who we were together but we have split it equally and he owes me some money as more of the credit cards were in my name.

Then I had to spend more on the credit cards just to feed the kids and get to work in the last couple of months while all my tax credits etc were sorted out.

I did have a plan that my debt was going to be paid off in a year but I don't think I realised how long it would take to sort the benefit claims and therefore how much more debt I would rack up.

I will add up my debts later on tonight and add to the second post along with a plan of how I am going to pay them off!
