Barclays were rubbish for me. Good when you have plenty of money, they cant help you enough! But if you are in debt then they are less than helpful - they will just offer you a bigger loan and more debt!
I moved from Barclays to Allience and leicester at the start of the new year and they have been fine so far
March 2006 £15,200+ in debt April £843.64 in debt - Debt Free date Sept 2009
Egg Credit Card - £843.64 5.7%0 -
Ive got a account with the co-op and they are fantastic and they even give you a visa electron card on there basic cashminder account.:j WILL GET THERE SOON :j

natwest, alliance and leicester are good for basic accounts ie visa electron/solo.... but you may still be able to get a proper account with citibank ie debit card as i was offered this.... although silly me didn't take them up of the offer and i moved address which trashed my credit score and they wont let me have it now... but still i have an account with them just not the card.Official DFW Nerd number 227

Natwest step account is the one I went for, it's basic and doesn't offer any credit facilities (which is perfect for me!!). I've got a solo card and can pay my bills by D/D or do telephone and internet banking. It keeps me out of trouble!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

I applied for a cahoot as my parachute account and got one with debit card and came with an overdraft which we don't use!
Then a couple of months ago we applied for an A&L account even though we had been in a DMP for a year and we got the account with cheque book and debit cards - they said sadly they could not give us an overdraft unless we closed our other bank account - awwww!
Both for me have been spot on because I mainly internet bank living in a village.
We have an old Yorkshire account in my hubbys name and I find there online banking and old fashioned way of banking terrible - very inconvenient!0 -
Sadly I'm not able to use either Nationwide or Alliance & Leicester as I currently have loans & a bank account , many thanks to the peeps that have advised me so far.
