My OH has some really good quality long sleeve white undershirts, they have no holes or pulls and keep their shape brilliantly.
They look dirty and grey/stained now despite Vanish/Oxy and various products in the washing machine. Is there an old school method of whitening or brightening them? Would soaking in bleach solution just damage them or yellow them?
I'm really reluctant to get rid of them as they're a weird make that I can't find any more and they've lasted ages with hardly any wear and tear despite him wearing them every day (he has seven). They were £1 each on the market, can't get them again.
Thanks for any suggestions

I usually put a couple of bleach tablets in the whites wash every few weeks, the items seem to survive. Liquid bleach should be fine, none of my things have gone yellowy.0

How about glow white I use that on school polo shirts and they come up really well0

Hi I have posted this a few times when a question about reviving whites. I think it works best on cotton or blends.
2 to 3 tablespoons of bicarb of soda in the drum of macine along with garment
slosh about a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar in the fabric conditioner drawer. Dont use fabric conditioner on this occasion.
then your usual dose of washing powder or gel in drum or drawer.
This brings my white bedding up beautifully white.
be careful using coloured fab conditioner it can tint clothes. I stopped using fab con I think it clogs up washing machines and causes smells
I use a cap of zoflora or white vinegar and essential oil from wilko.
obvious dont mix washing wash whites only together.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

I often add 1 cap of bleach & 2 caps of water in the pre-wash section of my machine when washing whites (along with my normal washing powder. I've not had anything come out damaged...but it removes every stain I've ever struggled to remove with Van1sh/normal stain removers & it leaves everything so bright.0

Wash at 95 degrees. They'll be like new.0
