Netgear WG111v2 Wireless Adaptor won't install

Hi, just brought the above wireless adaptor for my Windows XP machine.
I follow all the installation instructions correctly until the windows new hardware wizard comes up.
This prompts me to insert the CD to install the software automatically.
The CD is already in the drive, I select 'install software automatically', but it doesn't regonise it. I have 2 CD drives- I've selected the correct one!
It says alternatively to connect to the internet, which I can't do until I have a wireless connection!
I've tried every other option- installing manually, installing the newest drivers (downloaded from the internet) but nothing works!
What am I doing wrong?
Please help!

What order are you doing things..
My WPN111 from netgear was done like this
1. Insert cd
2. Install Software from CD
3. Insert USB adapter when asked
4. Follow rest of instructions.
5. Restart computer.
I was never once confronted by the new hardware wizard. Are you plugging in the USB device first before installing the software???0 -
The OP is which is where it's falling down.0

Thats how i've done it in the past. Sounds like the OP might have done it in the wrong order?0 -
Ok, how do I disable the 'found new hardware wizard' that might solve the problem.0

alternatively, if you have an ethernet card in the pc, you could hook this up to the router, and download the drivers from the netgear site.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

I couldn't get this to work with a dell laptop.
Eventually I downloaded drivers wg111v2_3_3_0 from the netgear website.
This worked a treat.
However, when downloading it did tell me the s/w was NOT free but a 40 free trial.
Still waiting for the 40 days to be up.0
