Mortgage Advice

Whilst I'm not in any position whatsoever to get a mortgage YET, I have the next 10 months to make cut backs, remove contract items and reduce secured debts i.e. hire purchases, but need to know if it's all really worth sacrificing those for £2000 less deposit on a mortgage.

Aiming to save around 10% deposit - £12k plus. Aiming for property value £100k - £120k as a maximum.

What I want to know, though, is what sort of disposable income should I be aiming for whilst paying for a mortgage and all bills.

Want to have enough to save at least £100 - £200 a month plus have £200 a month left to myself after everything is paid. but is this sub-prime and should I aim higher ?

Overtime is paid extra (£35.00 p.h. overtime) where as my salary is £22,000 P.A.

It's just to get a fair idea of whether it's worth sacrifing that extra £20k on a mortgage for paying off £2k secured debt.
