Phonecalls ??

I have a question!

After a long time of having the phone unplugged I decided to brave plugging it back in (with the answering machine on). About every five days a number calls but never leave a message. Dont know if I'm allowed to post the number so I wont.

I have tried ringing it back to see who it is but get this message:

this number is reserved for outgoing calls (very long pause)

someone has tried to contact you from the BCW group or one of its divisions.

I understand the BCW group is buchanan clark and wells?? I have never had any letters from them but I wondered if anyone knows who else they are in cahoots with.

found this website http://www.bcwgroup.com/.. something to do with credit management... IF they can't be bothered to leave a message I wouldn't worry about it! If it's important they'll write to you!

Id let them write to you than you know exactly what it is before you contact them instead of ringing them up and being put on the spot.

BCW = Fairly unpleasant debt collectors based in Glasgow. Pursued Mrs LA for a debt on behalf of British Gas. In fairness they let up when I demonstrated to them that BG actually owed us money:D .

Had a call from these again yesterday and my daughter was here alone. She took a message and they gave my other halfs mothers name and her reference number and asked for someone to call back. So he phoned them and told them yet again that she has never stayed here. They said ok we will make a note and remove your details from the account. They said the exact same thing last time.

They have no reason to contact us as they have her details. Is there any action we can take if this persists?

Oh he also asked how they got our phone number when it is ex-directory, he didnt catch what they said except experian, does that mean somehow she is linked with this address? And how would that happen?

1. The are breaking OFT guidelines if they are ringing a number on which they know the debtors is not available.

2They are breaking the Data protection Act if they are divulging infomation about OH Mum's debt to anyone else except the debtor.

Report them.

It is probably the only way that they will learn to stop these calls.
Also get your credit reference checks for peace of mind re the possibility of any link.
