I saw Martin last evening on Channel 4 news and I have to say it was brill.
I thought that the argument the Bankers Association rep came out with about new credit searches and underwriting, to explain the cost of going into an overdraft was appauling. I think they are clutching at straws here.
Martin was having none of it....
I thought he was gonna jump over the table at one point.
Nice one Martin!

Hi I Really Enjoyed Your Appearance On Tonight With Trevor Mcdonald This Evening. I Work For A Charity Working With Young Homeless People. Our Job Is To Prepare Them For Their Own Future Tenancy. Obviously Money Is Really Important. Does Anyone Know How I Can Get A Copy Of Tonights Show, And Any Other Material Aimed At Teenagers (we Work With 16 - 21 `s), Re Finance. The Material We Have, Is Ok, But This Is So Much More Relevant And Could Be Used Again, And Again. Thanks0

I particulary liked the roll of the eyes at the end with regards to MSE/CAG not being informed of the test case. A well argued case Martin, loved her steely faced reaction to you.
Lotta"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, how big my house was, or what kind of car I drove. But the world may be a little better, because I was important in the life of a child."0 -

I wonder what she was thinking... :rotfl:0 -
Martin was excellent, I was disappointed with the amount of time Martin was given, he should have been given more. But I don't think Ms. Knight could have taken any more. I watched her interview the next morning and she looked 'wrecked'. I really don't know why they interview her, she never answers any questions. She couldn't answer the 'how much should the charge be?' she was asked about five times.
On something like that you need a body language expert. When she bow's her head forward in the last frame, it could be a defence to hide the eyes and form a shield, it also implies that she doesn't believe her arguement is strong, the eyes might give away what she really thinks. O.K. I don't know what I'm talking about.0 -
The interviewer didn't do a good job with Angela IMHO.
His two key questions:
- how much have the banks paid out; and
- how much is a fair charge
are stupid questions to ask.
An industry body isn't in a position to disclose commercially sensitive information which the banks haven't even disclosed in their own accounts. Most banks haven't reported their results for the first half of 2007 in any case, so the figures aren't even in the public domain and they are therefore not ABLE to be disclosed as it would breach insider information rules.
As regards "how much is a fair charge", obviously the banks believe that their current charges are fair. So it's a completely pointless question to ask their representative.
He kept repeating these stupid questions and consequently failed to ask her anything useful.0
