FTB just looking for some info.

Hello everyone.

Have just had an offer accepted on a property and am waiting for my mortgage advisor to sort the mortgage side out (I know nothing about this process at all!) he has already calculated previously that I can afford what I need so now is the time for the official application I guess. What I wanted to know was - is there anything I can do now to prepare for when they start asking questions and lookingat bank statements? i.e., a friend of mine said to start using cash for everything rather than my debit card.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Bit late to look at using cash now. If a lender wants to look at your bank statements, they will want the last 3 or 6 months worth so you should have started months ago. Not sure why not using your debit card will make a difference though, surely there will be loads of cash withdrawals on your statement instead and they will still want to know what you have spent it on.

The bank will want your last 3 months bank statements so using cash now will make no difference.
To be honest, if a bank canonly see cash transactions and not get an idea of what you spend money on I would think that would cause them more concern than if they can see what you are spending money on.

You could be buying drugs and gambling etc.

My advice would be to ignore your friend and listen to your broker I think. They are being paid to sort your application out, trust them with it.

    Put together

ID - passport or driving licence
Proof of address - recent utility bill
Employment - latest p60 and last 3 months wage slips
Bank - last 3 months bank statements
Proof of deposit - savings account?

    and ignore your friend
