Presents for Teachers

Just back from my local Mum and Toddler group and the subject of presents for teachers came up. My daughter goes to nursery 2 afternoons a week and there are 4 teachers. Does anyone have any ideas for gifts that don't cost the earth and that I could possibly make myself. Just a little token really, I'm not one for competing with the other Mums!

Hi Tilly, have you tried looking on https://www.pinterest.com? There is a wealth of teacher's gifts etc on there which you can peruse and make yourself. I always look on there for inspiration. Just type in what you are looking for.
I am sure people will come along with other suggestions too.0 -
I wouldn't worry to much about it. Presents are certainly not expected.
If you would like to do something for them, maybe bake something/or make truffles/sweeties for the staffroom?0 -
I have made some small gift bags for all teachers and in each one is a small nail varnish (£1) small hand cream (50p - was on offer) and a mini nail file (£1.50 for 3). I have put a little tag on it that says 'For your mistletoes'.
Cheap and quite easy to do. DD has a male Teaching assistant and we have done the same but substituted beauty bits for a pair of xmas socks (£1).
Just finished all of them and they are awaiting the end of term

Gingerbread Christmas tree decorations.
Use a straw to put a hole in the top before baking.
Cover with icing before letting you little one go nuts with the sprinkles/silverballs.
Put some cheap ribbon though the hole to hang on the tree.Kate short for Bob.

Nothing edible - a thread in a previous year discussed this and the bottom line is that most teachers would chuck it in the bin as they don't know where it's been,0

Back when I was at sixth form I remember making up little stockings ( cheap gift bags) with a mince pie, satsuma, a few chocs and a lump of coal! It went down well with the English department. And I'm sure they will remember it now if any of them frequent these forums.

A pretty mug (often see them in charity shops), some nice tea bags and a packet of shortbread biscuits so the teacher can treat her/himself to a nice relaxing cuppa when school stops for christmas.0

Pots of treasure
Fill a small pot or box with a handful or so of quality street and a lotto card
or Pots of Gold
Fill with all gold covered sweets such as chocolate coins, a sm lindt reindeer, generic chocolate eclairs etc and a lotto card
Really cheap and easy to do, my DH works at a school and I do something similar every year and they are always loved by the teachers.
Or how about some warm gloves, a scarf or handwarmers for when they are on playground duty.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Personally I don't give teachers presents every year. Maybe that makes me seem cheap but I think there are many parents who can't afford it and I hate that it seems expected. I think teachers appreciate a child with manners and a good attitude all year round much more than 20 mugs with ' best teacher' written on them. You can spot the teachers at a car boot sale!!! For me it falls into the same category as the child being expected to bring in sweets for the whole class when it's their birthday.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...
