Hello lovely DFWers - old timers and newbies. TGI Friday :j :j :j
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Today I will do the following:
- keep an eye on the bank charge test case today
- check online banking and update spreadsheet
- make sure as many appliances as poss are switched off at the wall
- use only the storecupboard/freezer for meals today
- do clicks and surveys
- speak to bank re direct debit I had cancelled but they have paid!
- take flask of coffee to karate to avoid buying any!
- not increase my debt in any way
- be positive
I hope everyone has a good day xx

OK, have the plumber round at the moment, fixing my central heating in time for winter, will cost me £280 but the system will be more effective and therefore cheaper on gas! However, not very MSE, I have to keep the heating on for few hours, but am using the opportunity to do some washing (at 30 degrees) and get the stuff dry!
As I have to sit in all day, I will be forced to tidy the house, thus not being tempted into spending more money and might even get to check my online banking and work out a new budget, as I have been meaning to do for weeks, now maternity pay has been cut!0 -

Today I will, I really really will, write to the bank and tell them I was sold an expensive account on incorrect information. (they told me the size of my overdraft meant that it would be cheaper to pay them £10 per month (£11.50 now) for my account. They've since told me that this is not true. I have no idea if I'll be able to convince them to give that money back.....but I'll try
