Names and email addresses showing on web site

Hi everyone
I have found a facebook page that I went onto to enter a competition.
Some people (more than 100) who have entered have left their email details showing. The site has realised there is a problem and have asked them to remove their email addresses but those people are unlikely to go back to look at the entries they have made - at least not for some time. I do not want to name the page if I can avoid it as everyone will be going there to have a look and I would be bringing more attention to the problem. I do recognise some of the names on there as people from MSE.
I have made out a list of those involved - just their first name and Initial and the end of their email address which I could put on here but can anyone suggest the best way to deal with this. I am not very good on computer related matters and even worse with anything to do with facebook.
.. or should I just forget about it? I just keep thinking about the amount of spam this could generate.

I can't think where you could publish it to maximum - or indeed ANY - effect? Unless you post on the actual page? - but then as you say they might not look back..............Cripes - I think I'd probably leave it for the company to deal with tbh although it's nice of you to consider these people.0

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Jean III
It's always worrying when that happens!
Can I make a suggestion? So people can at least have a heads up, if you know what comp it was, and can find the original post here on the comps board, then you can open up the 'likes' and simply 'copy and paste' the MSE forum names of everyone who has entered. You can then paste those names onto this thread. At least that way, people can still check and be forewarned, and then you are only repeating a list of forum names which everyone sees anyway!=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -
Thank you CheCazzo.
Thank you too Biker*Chick. Great idea. If anyone is worried when they see their name here they can pm me if they cannot work out where it was.
Here is the list of likes although it seems to be the mobile entry part that is affected. It is a daily but as some of the entries were 11 hours ago I have copied todays thanks.

Maybe push the company to delete the thread - solves the problem from their point of view. I don't think you could do anything else tbh xThanks to all posters :A0

Thanks for the warning Jean. Although my user name isn't there on your list, it made me think about Googling for my email address to check if it was 'out there'. It showed 4 hits over 2 websites.
If anyone else wants to try this, I suggest searching for your email address within quote marks.

looks like a list of people who entered a comp
Unless people were searching for their own name the list (and the at least 8 others like it) would have a very limited audience that's no longer the case now it's on mse.

I did as you suggested and was horrified to find my email address out there on several blogs. The worst was however a society I belong to has my full name and address with reference number etc and all my interests I am searching for. I have some people to get in touch with about this. I do have a subscription to Experian who usually notify me if someone discloses my email address so I am not sure if this predates the subscription.0 -

It is a horrible feeling, isn't it? I panicked - my usual reaction- and then I thought, well, it's prolly been out there for a while, and nothing too disastrous has happened. Probably is worth contacting the blogs, especially the one with your address. But I guess it's not unusual to find personal info on the net nowadays. I have to admit, I've searched for addresses/phone numbers sometimes, and sometimes found what I'm looking for. But I'd never put 2 and 2 together, till reading Jean's OP, and considered that might apply to me too
Am off to search for my address now

Edit: 1390 hits :eek::eek: But actually they're Zoopla, other real estate and our business address. And those hits are mainly over just a handful of sites. So I guess I can live with thatI am brave, I am bruised

Looks like the guy hacks websites and sells the info, http://pastebin.com/u/KkK1337, how do we report this stuff ?Posting is a privilege, not a right. This is a privately-owned site.
