Nationwide mtg - when do they instruct valuation

Anyone recently applied for a mtg with nationwide if so when do they instruct the valuation to be carried out - straightaway or once they've decided mortgage has approval?

Just applied online and submitted all paperwork via branch so curious.

Thanks

As soon as the application is submitted, the fee is collected and the valuer instructed.

Thanks. Still a waiting game once the valuation is done then.

Normally, the valuation is returned and the offer issued within a couple of days, assuming all the docs are back and acceptable in the interim period.

  • I had to do my application online today because I had a three hour appointment booked for Saturday but someone booked me in with an advisor not a consultant so I have popped down to take my paperwork into branch to send to the mortgage centre.

It's a bit off that they take nearly £400 for a homebuyers survey before they review papers. I could have spent £375 for them to say no a few days. I wonder how often that happens. Really you would think they would not be allowed to take your money for a survey but instead make you an offer aubject to the valuation!
  • Submitted our application yesterday.
Had a text come through today saying our valuation will be being done tomorrow!

They've already got copies of our wage slips so hoping this wont be a laborious task.

The process can take enough as it is for the majority of people without even further delay. The survey\valuation is the downfall of the most credit worthy of buyers.
