Quit my job!!!

Options
Hi everyone, been lurking in the background for a while now, thought it was time to make myself known. Worked for a major supermarket for 6 years and was very disheartened with it. Went on holiday with hubby and kids and didn't bother going back to work. I sent in a letter explaining my reasons, there were some personal reasons why i left too, and telling them I would not be going back. I know I've probably done the wrong thing but just couldn't face going back. I had saved some money before we went on holiday, although that was meant to go towards paying off one of the credit cards. Not too bothered about finding another job right now, although hubby is. We pay £570 in nursery fees for my 3 year old and £140 in afterschool fees for my eldest a month, which the tax credits pays some money towards. What I would like some advice on is have I made a mistake? Am I entitled to any money from my job, I had some free shares and pension, wot happens to them? Would I be better off staying at home and looking after kids, would we get more tax credits?
Any advice would be much appreciated

    Welcome!

You MIGHT be entitled to some holiday pay, if you hadn't taken all of your entitlement for this year.

On the other hand, if you've been paid for more holiday than you're entitled to, I believe they're entitled to ask for it back!

I don't think you'd be entitled to any pay in lieu of notice, because you didn't give any.

And you may not get the best of references.

I don't know what happens to your shares, and your pension is, I believe, frozen, ie no more payments in from your employer but you'll be entitled to whatever it's worth when you retire.

If you have a play round on the entitled to website you might get an idea of whether you'd get more tax credits. I can't tell you whether you've made a mistake, but if you stay home you'd be saving just over £700 per month in childcare, and your 3 year old would get some free nursery time. The Debt Free Wannabe board is a good place for looking for help in reducing debt, and the Old Style board is a good place for reducing expenditure.

all i can say is what i get, my hubby works i dont i look after our 2 ds and i get £70 child tax credit a week no childcare fees and if dh earns under roughly £20,000 he'd get working tax credit.
Personnally i would stay at home as i love spending all my time with the kids and i also home educate them so couldnt work more than a few hours.

Or another way to earn a bit extra would be a p/t evening job, hubby comes in looks after kiddies no childcare costs and you get a bit extra cash.
hope you find a good solution.
