Equity release on Wates house

Can anyone help. My parents are both past retirement age but my mother has carried on working as there are a couple of years left on the mortgage. Because of health reasons my mother now really needs to retire. We have looked into equity release as an option. The property has been valued at £110K and the remaining mortgage is circa £16K.
We have been unable to find a provider.
One company wouldn't because it is a Wates house (ex council) and another had no problem with the construction but wouldn't because of too many defaults in the post code area (First 4 digits).
Not sure if I am allowed to quote the company's names on here.
Has anyone had any success that can point me in the right direction or suggest an alternative to equity release.
