Cleaner not doing hours she's paid for

For 2 hours, do it yourself at the weekend.
I'm with the others, get the locks changed and dismiss her the same day - do not give her the opportunity to take anything in her final days.
You no longer trust this person, nothing further can be done so just find someone else you can trust.
I don't know what your problem is but I imagine it's very difficult to pronounce.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Don't people get it?!
Regardless, if she's completing ALL the cleaning in the two hours, she should be charging for two hours. Not three?! She's just been caught out.
Seriously, that's not difficult is it?!
...and she was the one who suggested a 3rd hour was necessary in the first place, as it was 2 hours originally.0 -
Exactly. If it was a price to complete the job, fine. But it's clearly not. It's a per hour price!0

I think if you now cut her hours to 2 hours she will now only clean for just over 1 hour. If she is being paid for 3 she should do 3 hours or she should have looked at the job and just quoted a price for the job.
I can spend hours cleaning my house as there is always something to clean.I clean out the kitchen cupboards or give the bathroom a good cleaning or clean the windows but normally its just a normal clean so she could find things to clean and not just whip in and whip out.0 -
The problem or solution may lie in what was agreed in the beginning of employment.
Did you ask her to clean kitchen, bathroom, every week, windows every month and have a schedule or did you just ask for 3 hours of cleaning.
If the first then I dont think she is doing anything wrong, she has provided the service you have contracted for and she is doing quickly and making a profit.
If on the other hand you just asked for 3 hours of cleaning and now getting two.....bye bye cleaner.

Originally I had used this cleaner at a previous 2 bedroom flat I had rented. I knew she could do the job to a good standard faster than 2 hours but since you can't get a cleaner to come for less than 2 hours of pay as it's not worth their while I thought nothing of it.
When I moved into my current home, the landlord had just had some "improvements" done. (It looks like he's been ripped off by some cowboys but that's another story) so the place was a bit grubby that first week. When I got back from work my cleaner was just finishing up after cleaning for 2 hours. That's when she suggested that this flat would take a bit more than 2 hours a week and said if I paid for 3 she could do some ironing too.
I had suspected that since the initial cleaning had been done she was getting it done faster than 3 hours. Now I've come to realise that she's doing it in half the time (possibly less) and the ironing is poor quality.
I don't mind paying for 2 hours work and her getting it down in 1.5 hours but paying for 3 is taking the Michael.
If I had realised how quickly she was getting the work done then I would have left instructions for other cleaning work to be done.
I am comfortable having this woman in my house (nothing has gone missing etc) but I think I need to manage her better. For starters, stop the ironing and reduce her hours. If she can clean + iron (badly) in 1.5 hours then just being given 2 hours to clean means there's scope to get her doing other cleaning activities than just the usual.0 -
Have you drawn up a schedule of work to be done? The big cleaning agencies do this.
I have a cleaner from a small agency for 2 hours a week for a 3 bed flat. 3 hours for a two bed every week sounds like overkill. How many of you are there creating mess? Is it an old flat that gets particularly dusty?
In my case there isn't a schedule and I don't think there is quite enough to keep her occupied (it's one of those 2 hour minimums, and I live on my own) but she is a hard worker and looks round for stuff to do. If she sees a pile of ironing, she does it. She even tidies my cupboards. I am usually here when she comes as I work a lot at home; I suspect she would finish in less time if I weren't here and I have wondered about going to the alternative offered by the agency, 3 hours a fortnight, but I quite like the feeling that the cleaning never has a chance to get out of control. I hate cleaning with a passion.0
