Exclusive to B&Q

Hi does anyone else find the idea of "Exclusive to B&Q" slightly worrying?

I was shopping for a Bosch lawnmower this summer and was surprised to see the B&Q price undercut Amazon by about £10. So I went to the diy store and bought one.

B&Q were selling Rotak 340, Rotak 430 etc etc. Amazon were selling Rotak 34, Rotak 43 with similar specifications (on paper) to the B&Q exclusive versions.

However on black friday a friend of mine went to B&Q and bought another exclusive deal, a Makita HP457D with two 1.3 Ah batteries.

But, unlike the similar specified Makita BHP453 the batteries are not compatible with other Makita drills, impact drivers, multitools or radios. So he cannot buy a Makita "body only" power tool to save some money or upgrade the batteries to the more powerful 3.0 Ah version.

Is "Exclusive to B&Q" a lower quality product to the "Non exclusive" equivalent?
