How to protect a business idea?

Hi Folks

If someone has a business idea to create a product (for example), how do you go about protecting your idea? i.e. from stopping someone else copying your idea?
Also, I it is indeed it is a product, what is the next thing to do? Would it be to go to the company/person who would help to create that product or would you first test the market to see if there is a demand for that type of product?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Apply for a patent or registered design. Patent attorneys are expensive!


Protect your ideas by making sure you have a non-disclosure agreement in place before discussing them with a company or individuals.


And don't publish or post anything about it.

FYI- It's called Intellectual Copyright, if your idea isn't tangible.
