Hi there,
My husband and I would like to take out a personal loan of £15,000. Iwondered if it is best to do it in joint names or separately or should my husband apply on his own. I already have aloan outstanding of around £1,000 (which will be paid off in August). We have ajoint mortgage, but separate current accounts; with the same bank and a jointsavings account. We also have overdrafts of £1,500 each, but wenever get in the red. I earn about £20,000 and he earns about £26,000 + bonusetc. It would be good to know if we would be best applying together or if my husand should apply on his own.

For a 15k loan, you're almost certainly going to need both salaries to be taken into consideration.0

I read the question as: "Should we get a £15k loan together, or two £7.5k loans separately"
Tbh its not going to make a great deal of difference unless you find you can get a better APR from either of the options.
Also - if you have savings why not use them?0 -

If you have savings, use them first.
You'll be better off applying for a joint £15k loan.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0
