Well done Hilltop. You could have a long time to enjoy your new status. It's worth noting that I am almost 20 years younger than you and my retirement age has been bumped up to 67. So for people coming behind you they will be barely starting retirement at your age!0

Hiltop, this is such a wonderful achievement that you should celebrate. I know it feel great - we paid off a lot of debt and we are no 'spring chickens' either. Look at it this way: You are only 70 and there is so much life a fun left! Do you want to waste it on regret?

Well done, Hilltop, Great to get it paid off at last. I do understand where you are coming from, but what's done is done. You can't change the past, but your actions now in the present will become your future. 70 is not old these days. My parents are in their late 70s & they are way more socially active than I am! Health permitting, I intend to do all the stuff in my 70s that I enjoy now. I bet you've learned loads of valuable lessons about money management & won't ever get suckered into borrowing again. So celebrate!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (46/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
