Hi all,
I posted earlier requesting which basic bank accounts to apply for and have just applied with the coop and nationwide and they have both been referred, is it possible I may get rejected for a basic bank account, my credit is quite poor but I am about to go on a dmp and need an account.

I got refused a basic bank account with Cahoot recently, have pants credit score so leaving any financial issues that need credit checks for a long time. Hopefully by then score will be better (moved house 9 months ago, moved bank 9 months ago and two late payments recorded on credit file).0

Check out the Bankruptcy board. They list three accounts that are Ok for BKS.
And make sure you ask for a basic account.
Alternatively, check out the post office. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

A proper basic bank account from Nationwide can only be done by going into the branch and asking them for the account that doesn't require a credit check. Anything else you do online or if you don't ask for this specific account will mean that it is not basic. I was told this by a Nationwide customer service woman on the phone after I was turned down and I was surprised. This is the advice she gave me.
