Help, Need basic bank account

Hi all, first off wanted to say im anewbie to this site, and its great Im currently in the first stage of setting up a debt management plan, thanks to all the great advice and support on these forums. I wont bore you all with my details but had some bad knee problems over the years since I had a major injury a few years ago and am unable to work and have been living off credit cards for 12 months at least. stupid I know, but im on the right track now. Anyway just a quick question for you experts, obvoiusly I need to change bank accounts but have a slightly poor credit rating and wish to open a basic bank account, which bank due you advise, I really need an account that does not credit check and just wondered if any of you knew, nationwide does not have a branch near to me and I cant go with hsbc, marbles, leeds building society/morgan stanley, sainsburys or halifax. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance guys.

I went to the co-op with no problems at all, did everthing online followed with a quick phone call with ref number provided and it was done. My hubby got his with nationwide online and no problems for him either. We are not near to a nationwide branch either but he has had no problems at all.

ok thanks il try them out now, am i right in thinking that the basic bank account works the same as a current account but with no overdrafts/credit facilities. Can transfer money into this account from other accounts as normal. Thanks again
