Joining a workplace pension scheme means that your take-home income will be reduced. But this may:

mean you’re entitled to tax credits or an increase in the amount of tax credits you get.

I already have a LGPS pension, would the money have to be taken at source meaning I would not be able to use a SIPP to increase my CTCs?

I don't want to add to the LGPS because I want to retire earlier than 67 and don't want this pension reduced because I took it early.

No it won't matter. What matters is that your pension payments are reducing your taxable income.
