Black Friday - Argos

managed to get onto Argos website this morning to do a little bit of BF shopping. spotted a suitable item (LED TV) stuck into the trolley.
website kept crashing and spitting me out. eventually got to the checkout, typed in my details, typed in my card details, got the RBS added security part too. clicked submit and...... nowt. systme appeared to crash and got that dinosaur "oops" message.

left it for a while incase an email/invoice was sent to confirm the order...nowt

rang them and they couldnt find any order, advised me to leave it a bit, possibly check with the bank.

i left it a while, managed to get back into the site (my trolley was empty), added another TV and went to buy.

same thing again.

checked online banking, no purchases made but knowing it could be a while for it to update i contacted the bank.

they have two identical purchases pending, so i now have two TV's winging there way to me ?!?

couldnt get hold of ARGOS on the phone so emailed them.

now, i did request next day delivery on both attempts to buy so im hoping they get back to me before they send the two tellys out.

with the website being so busy i think their repsonse times in despatching, replying, cancelling etc will also be slow, probably to the point they dont meet there obligations.

is there anything i can do if they dont
  • get back to me before the order is sent
  • send an invoice for either item
  • send my order/orders on the due date (tomorrow)
  • act on the email and cancel one of the TV's?

They probably won't have gone through correctly. Normally you complete 3D Secure and it passes some data about your payment back to Argos, however if you got an error message that might not have happened. However as you got through 3D secure it has caused a pending payment, this will likely just drop off after a few days.

Of course it is still possible that you have 2 tv's being delivered.
  • spoke to the bank on sat. two payments pending with Argos. asked about ability to cancel these and was given some codes that Argos needed to canel the "order".

called Argos (55 mins on hold!!!!)

no orders showing according to them, gave them the codes from the bank and was advised should see the money back/available in my account in a day or so.

got an email yesterday saying they apologised they couldnt fulfil my order. this wasnt instigated by the call on Sat however and just appeared a generic "we messed up but no hard feeling eh?" message

wont be shopping with Argos again if i can help it.

if you cant sustain a website that will cope with the demand in this day and age, and probably dont have the stock to cover any orders then dont trade!
