It took me a while to make my first trip to Rajani's, after hearing various people rave about it. Definitely worthwhile! They sell a range of houseware, luggage, furniture, linens, kitchenware, some foodstuffs, clocks, stationery, gifts etc etc etc. If you want stocking fillers or prizes for a school tombola, paper plates or table decorations for a mass catering event, or a whole range of other things, head for:

Rajani Superstore
Maggs Lane
Bristol
BS5 7EW

0117 958 6448

Pensioner discounts on Thursdays, you need a card! Oh, and there's a nice little cafe there too!

I agree with Sue, it's an amazing place. I go with my sister in law who lives near and we spend half our time being totally dumbfounded at the amount of junk they sell. Who decorates their house with that stuff?

I always come home laden down with freezer bags, plant pots, dog bowls and other totally essentials for bargain prices!

Mind you if you are on the other side of town.

Longwell Green side. Across the dual carriage from the big 24 Asda is a Hyper value ( just bought the wall paper to do 5 rooms for £17 as was £1 a roll and BOGOF. Bargain or what. not a huge choice. But just moved house) and one called WHAT!!!!.

Hyper value have more brand names like 5 imperial leather soaps for a £1. Where as WHAT has more non-branded and tools.

I bought a very nice china Doll and paper weight from Rajani's though.

Wrong side of the river for me but if I ever find myself lost I shall make a point of looking out for them!

I've been in both Hyper Value and What more like (what the ****)! Never seen soo much junk under one roof. Having said that didn't stop me spending £10 on next to a ton of nik-naks for DIY etc. I even bought a hand grabber for MOH for £2 when he hurt his back and couldnt bend down to pick stuff up. Was funny at the time.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

Good preparation for Rajani's. They probably have equally as much ***p and can equal the amount of it under one roof!

Before people begin to question my taste (which would be understandable), please note I never said that there wasn't a whole load of tat in Rajani's. But sometimes - just sometimes - we all need tat. And they do stock bargains, reasonable quality, excellent prices. Just avert your eyes in the aisles which offend you!

I rarely used What as it was really junky. And they also have a one in Bath as well. And with hypervalue I use to just keep popping in and you might find something that you want.

A lot of it is junky in both shops. But you occasional find a gem.

Last year I found very nice loo roll holder and towel ring for a grand total of about £2. They where chrome and white china. Very understated but looked posh and well expensive. Wish I bought some more at the time. As I have moved and all the stuff I see is plastic and horrible.

Also Hyervalue seem to get more things that are overstock of things. They have in the past had TY pillow pals in. I have bought Tesco's and Sainsbury's Shower gel for 50p a bottle.

My best bargain in What was a grey backpack for a whole £1. They are well made and last for ages. And I don't feel gulity if I chuck one away as they cost so little money.

Some of the stuff in Rajani's is not to bad. They have some nice China dolls and paper weights in the display cases.

But sadly again a lot of junk.

But Hypervalue and What must be doing something right as there car parks are always full by about 11am and they are heaving on a saturday and sunday.

I just wish that we had a poundland around here. As the nearest is either Swindon or w-s-m.

They do have a great big one down at Exeter. I know still get a load of junk for a £1. but last time I went to the one in W-S-M they had Nescafe forthy Coffee (can't spell it). They are normally £1.99 unless on offer £1.50.

There may not be an actual Poundland but there are so many similar stores in Bristol I'm surprised you miss it. Not that I've ever spent a lot of time in an actual Poundland ...

For example in Broadmead there is at least one £ shop of some description, plus Savers, and Just Beauty, and I find myself drawn into £ shops just about every time I go shopping anywhere in Bristol!

    Sue,

Rarely use to go in town as did not like.

Lots of cheap shops. But not many with branded items. Or with the items that I wanted. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

But then I am fussy moo.
