Hi Dennis, thanks for the reply- I was literally seconds from phoning your helpline before I decided to visit the thread to see if anyone had contributed so thank you. I may have misheard, I was in work at the time of the call and was overwhelmed by his attitude so it quite possibly can be £235. The fact I have to pay it is entirely my own fault - I shouldn't have tried to bury it and hope it wouldn't come back to bite me.

As stated, I don't have the funds to pay the full balance now- the bailiff left me his mobile number, should I call him and discuss a reasonable payment plan? Realistically I'd be able to afford £100 p/m with the first payment this Friday, or should I go through B&S?

    Thank you!

OKAY So I spoke to the bailiff this morning. I put the offer on the table; £200.00 on Friday and a £100.00 on the first of every month for 3 months until it's paid off. He said he wants the £200 by tonight or tomorrow morning and he will accept the deal. I didn't argue, borrowed the money off my brother.

Now I called B&S and spoke to the devils child, she was horrible so asked to speak to someone else and was transferred to a lovely lady who I explained the situation to. I said I had not received any documents to prove who this 'bailiff' was and felt uncomfortable paying over the phone to a mobile number and she said she would take the payment for me, gave me an authorization code and said she would text the bailiff to tell him.

    Hi awowen10

Thanks for the update - sorry I've only just checked back into this thread.

Bear in mind that you also ought be to be able to make any further payments through the B & S website itself:

    http://www.bristowsutor.co.uk/

In the event that this bailiff does visit your current address - which he'll hopefully have no reason to - please ensure that you do not allow him into your property. It's worth having a read of our Council Tax Recovery fact sheet, if only to be prepared for any similar situations in the future:
