Just seen all that 'rugby scrumming' going on on the telly. My days ! what a shambles. I shall be avoiding doing any kind of shopping during all that stuff.
None to happy about the supermarkets promoting this kind of thing either, very poor ethos. May take my shopping to retailers who don't subscribe to this sort of thing, but there aren't may of them, sadly.0 -
DS came home from school with rugby boots that had fallen apart. He's had them ages and I've kept asking him if he needs new ones, but if he likes something he wears it until it's completely worn out/too small to wear.
He has a game tomorrow so off to the sports shop. There was 20% off everything in store. The store was just about deserted, found a great pair of boots and 20% off. We are both happy.

I found a couple of Xmas pressies online at half price today. It's more important to me, though, to get a free postage offer, as I'm pretty much stuck in the house a lot now, and even have to get new clothes online. Postage soon ramps up the price :-(From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

Its consumerism gone mad. I've even had an email from a company offering cut price sticky labels!
My OH succumbed tho - he bought a half price tube of pringles! We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
We'd deliberately steered clear of Black Friday until DS2 asked me for an advance on his Christmas present in order to replace the broken cheap back light on his bike with something a lot better. I duly gave him the money thinking that there wouldn't be much left for the rest of his present and he returned home having got a tenner off because of Black Friday at the specialist bike shop . He wasn't expecting it at all. I wish shops would just stick to having sensible, ordinary sales, if anything. The unexpected tenner off was useful though!

I too avoided like the plague being sucked into the nonsence yesterday. If stuff is 70% discounted then its overpriced in the first place.I suppose I am lucky in that there is nothing I need or want at the moment .To see people fighting over stuff is just a bit weird to be honest The thought that some folk are just so consumed by the idea of 'grabbing a pile of t.v.s is just too peculiar to me.My t.v. is fit for what I want it to do and was my DDs old one when they bought a newer model (her and her OH tend to replace things long before they wear out)so I am quite happy with it.
Nothing electrical of mine needs replacing, and as for just grabbing stuff off the shelves because its there I think says a lot about the grab, grab, grab, notions of modern life I try to make my stuff last as long as I can(read falling to bits:) )before I will replace it.But then I have never found anything I remotely wanted or needed in sales.
I do however enjoy to post Christmas reductions in the SM with regards to food sales and last year got some Robertsons best quality Chrismas mincemeat for 20p a jar (6 jars) thats done be throughout the year, and I will finish off this year for the mince pies.:):):) I also got a large turkey last year that we had at Easter for £2.50,already frozen so it went straight into Dds freezer. That's the sort of bargains I look for:)But different strokes for different folks I suppose

p.s. I buy my calendar for next year in the first week of January along with Christmas wrapping paper as well for next year:):)

i wouldnt want to risk life and limb scrapping over a telly...makes you wonder if some of the tvs would be broke with all that rough handling....i find christmas so expensive i dont want to be handed another oportunity to spend so shall be decliningonwards and upwards0

absolutely appalling behaviour, was shocking to see on tv. What on earth has happened? We used to be civilised and take our turn by queueing.
I am not buying anything in the after christmas sales this year, I am still finding things I bought years ago, specifically for the grown up children and the grandchildren, I would rather have the cupboard space. My circumstances are different to many these days and I do understand stocking up at cheap after christmas prices, I used to do it and started off trailing around with my mum on boxing day in the 50s. I am just grateful to be able to avoid doing that now0 -
I don't go into town unless I absolutely have to on a "normal" day, let alone on a day when people are acting like hooligans to get so-called bargains. Being in a wheelchair, it's no fun being at groin-height to everyone else in a crowded shopping mall.:D
I'm afraid I avoided Black Friday like the plague; deleted all the emails about it unread, too.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Another fan of reduced mincemeat in January here, JackieO. I have just used the last of my stash and will have to get some more at full price!!! Two years ago I got the large Sains mincemeat 822g for 10p!0
