Friday 28 November - what small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Well, no thread so far so I have started one. Let us hope that someone else didn't have the same brilliant idea at exactly the same moment :rotfl:

I need to do a small shop today so hoping not to get caught up in this Black Friday nonsense (do they even have it in Lidls? :rotfl:)

    Other tasks:
    * Finish larder inventory and write a list for shopping
    * Check banks
    * Take some items to sales unit as quite a few bits have sold this week :)
    * Tidy up and hoover downstairs again
    * List bed on ebay as no immediate interest on FB sites :(
    * Think of something for dinner as my meal planning has gone out of the window again :o
    * Heating on timer in bathroom, airing cupboard and loft conversion only
    * Light woodburner as late as possible this afternoon / evening, and use kettles on top for free hot water for tea / washing up

Well, not much luck on FB but the item I found while decluttering yesterday now has a bid and 3 watchers. It is an MP3 player that I bought last year to give as a present and then ended up giving something else and forgetting about it :o

Right, better get on. Hope everyone has a nice day :)
  • Thanks DawnW

    Today I will be:

Sitting around eating chocolate for my birthday while dealing with 7 month od DS who is ill and hates taking his medicine :(

    I will also be:
Browsing the black friday deals to see if we can save on the fridge freezer we need (i'm still thinking in might be better to wait till the january sales though...)
    Check online banking
    Reconcile YNAB
Create Gumtree ads for items I've got to sell
    Ditto for Ebay
Empty the washing machine and hang up washing indoors...somewhere..
Take a meter reading to work out how much washing machine cost overnight.
    Drink lots of tea :)
    Dinner from the Freezer....

    L xx

    Morning all

lhead123 - good luck with the black Friday deals! Took me an hour to get on the curry's website to find that what I wanted wasn't in the sale!

    Today I have/will:-

    3. Lunch from home
    4. Fill water bottle up at work
    5. Earn 100 SBs
    6. Earn £1 on OnePoll
    7. Sort out washing on airer - grr STILL not dry last night!
    8. Find cheapest price for tumble dryer - parents agreed to buy for xmas!
    9. Must find out paperwork to cancel phone insurance!
    10. Make voucher to go in with my mum's xmas present
    11. Wrap mum's xmas present
    12. Decide what to get everyone else!
    13. Dinner from cupboards/freezer
    14. Charge phone in the evening rather than leave it on overnight
    15. Light candles again tonight - super cosy last night and saves electricity!
    16. Do some cleaning tonight so there's less to do tomorrow! (Saturday is my blitz day!)

    Happy Friday everyone!

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hey All

Well I was in Sainsburys this morning & apart from hearing one sales assistant talking about how she'd got her Ipad & Xbox bargain that day, there was no crazy queues or anything.
Apart from the way its sold to us as being some kind of insane, world ending sale, I think it is a good idea to have pre christmas sales like this. It all helps to get consumers a better offer so Im in favour.

    Stuff today.
    Worked 4.5 hours
Free coffee & lunch at work
Recieved confirmation that £23.17 is coming from Music Magpie, which is great because I just had to spend £25 on school uniform bits that had suddenly been outgrown, so one almost zeros the other.
I bought the above mentioned uniform from a mum who's children have left our school & she is really glad of the money pre xmas. The items had been hardly worn as she has a really fast grower.
Used my brand match coupon & a 60 extra nectar points for buying 12 eggs coupon
    Walked to school saving £1.45
Made home made burgers for dinner using the last of the bargain YS mince haul
    Checked banking
Have made son & husband packed lunches for tommorow as they will be out and about for various kids classes whilst Im at work & I dont want them pigging out on junk.
Have got an apple & ginger cake in the oven for our sweet treats for the weekend.
Have cooked extra boiled potatoes tonight so they are quick to slice up & roast for chips to go with the last of the chilli for tommorows tea so that should be everything sorted for tommorow. I'll probably be in work for 10 hours so I dont want to come back to cooking!
Thames Water wrote to confirm they are dropping our payments from £26 to £15 a month from December.
    Think thats it.

  • Very busy day, managed to resist black friday, which is good because I do not understand it- how cheap is this stuff that it is worth rioting for?

Feel like i am missing out, so I am going to eat some stuff from the fridge and ponder my ignorance. Hope my Mr T order £35 comes tomorrow.

It's a crock really. But then have you seen the queues of saddos that will sleep out overnight to make sure they are the first ones into the boxing day or new years day sales. They are looking for meaning by buying tat essentially. Black Friday is no different. The best things I've seen were I pads for around £100 quid. Unless you need one still isn't a bargain.
