Paddington Bear!

Paddington Bear seems to be all the rage at the moment although the one shown in the film isn't much like the one I knew and loved as a child but times change... I've been looking for a knitting pattern to make a Paddington Bear. I tried the Alan Dart pattern but found that a bit fiddly and at times overly detailed. At last I've found a pattern I can understand and I'm so pleased about it I wanted to let everyone know about it - just in case they were knitters too :)

I found the pattern on a site called Cabbage Patch Treasures. It's £1.25 and sent as a PDF file via email. It's brilliant and my Paddington Bear is coming along just fine! Here is the link to the site and the page where the pattern can be bought. Sorry if I have posted in the wrong place!

If you google Cabbage Patch Treasures you'll find the site. they've got loads of patterns for babies too.

You know we are all awaiting pics of your bear? I can't wait to see it.
I was talking to my 7yr old yesterday about knitting. She really wants to learn but I can't remember how to do it! Mum taught me to sew and knit. I sew out of necessity but for the life of me I can't knit. I used to knit a lot. I would knit toys. Remember when scarecrows were all the rage? But when I was pregnant with dd1 I got needles and wool to knit for the baby, as you do, I couldn't do it. Total blank! I haven't picked up needles since. Would it be easy to learn through YouTube do you think?

I've seen a couple of trailers of the film and I have to agree, the film version of Paddington is nothing like the one I know and love! It's a shame, I think. Thanks for the link to the pattern!

Thanks for the encouragement jackieo. I think we may well give it a go once we move house. Everything feels as if it's on hold until then. I don't even want to buy so much as a ball of wool and needles. If I buy it I have to pack it and transport it!
