What happens at end of three hour mortgage appoint with nationwide

  • I had my mmr interview with Santander last week and was warned it could take 3 hours but in reality it was two phone calls, one lasting 50 minutes and one lasting 20 minutes.

I guess it depends on your circumstances.

edit - I'm still waiting on a decision so I don't know if it's good or not that my interview was shorter than some.

I could have had an appointment over the phone which I was told could take 2 hours or in branch up to three hours so they can scrutinise my spending I guess. I opted to go in branch so that I can take every possible piece of paper evidence with me to back up the decision in principle they have given me.

NWide have told me that the mortgage advisor will have a good idea about whether not I will get a formal offer.

As long as they do not take weeks to decide that's all I ask as would like to get the ball rolling with the solicitors etc.

My only advice from this experience is do not use the online application. Please just be patient and go through it all with a mortgage consultant on the phone, however long it takes to wait for that appointment. We'd probably be moving in by now if we did it that way in the beginning.[/QUOTE]

I thought about doing it online but opted for in branch so I could cover every possible question they could possibly ask and get the papers handed over in person, I did the DIP online so I am part way there.

The discussion with the advisor is their opportunity to !!!-cover on why a two year fix is better than a three year tracker with the fee added to the loan. They may also flog you some expensive protection while they are at it, though.

The time you spend is not increasing the chances of your application being accepted. If that was the case, every broker's application would automatically fail, as we hardly ever speak to a lender employee.

If you pass the DIP, your documents match the data supplied at DIP and the valuation is alright, you'll get a mortgage offer. Plain and simple.

Once our Mortgage had done the credit checks etc for us we were offered a nationwide mortgage no problem but it was in principle until they had gone and valued the house. This was for me and my then GF (now wife) and our first home.. we found it easier than expected.
