dylon to revamp faded trousers?

I have a pair of trousers that have faded slightly but other than that they are fine. Has anyone got any advise on if dylon is any good and how to do it? My washer is brand new so there's no way I'm putting it in that... so I was planning on hand washing. Will it stain the sink ("stainless" steel) should I wear gloves? Am I gonna have to hand wash for the foreseeable?
Any ideas??? Just think dying them might be a bit more MSE than buying new.

Dylon dyes are great, I've got a couple of pairs of black jeans which had gone grey after washing, I've dyed them both several times and it has always worked really well. I've also done t-shirts, anything made from cotton will take the dye and it really does give your faded clothes a new lease of life!
Don't worry about using your new machine, the dye doesn't stay in there, I think you may have to run a wash cycle afterwards, just to ensure that the machine is clean but I've never had any problems with staining in subsequent washes.
Do make sure that you have plenty of salt handy, I think that you have to put a couple of tablespoons in with the dye, to "fix" the colour.
Go for it, it's cheaper than new trousers!
Just to add: Don't even think about trying to dye anything larger than a hanky in your sink. I once tried to dye a dressing-gown in a sink, the mess was everywhere. I had pink arms for a month! Just use your machine, the dyes are designed for use in modern washing machines, you won't damage it, honest!
Do make sure that you follow the instructions to the letter though."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
